Sunday Morning

I painted this in France, on a soft, sunlit Sunday morning when the day was just beginning to unfold. The air drifting in through the open windows was warm and scented with garden flowers, and the light pooled gently over the crumpled bedclothes. I loved the contrast between the cool blues of the sheets and the glowing greens beyond the glass — the calm interior meeting the freshness of the outside world.

It’s a painting about that quiet, unhurried moment before the day really begins — the comfort of still being half-dreaming, half-awake. I wanted the paint to carry that feeling: the softness of linen, the shimmer of light, the sense of peace that lingers in the morning.
