This painting captures a quiet interior moment filled with the hum of summer. I wanted to paint that shimmering stillness that settles in the heat of the day — when the only sound outside is the chorus of cicadas, and the air itself seems to vibrate. The sunlight pours through the open doors, patterning the tiled floor and furniture with fleeting shapes of leaves and shadow.

I built the scene slowly with layers of colour, working to balance the cool blues of the shaded room against the warmth of the sunlit garden beyond. The paint became a way to feel the air, to sense the difference between inside and out — the calm interior and the vibrating world just beyond the threshold.
